Terrible terrible service. I contacted this restorer/repairer after having a piece of furniture, an antique dresser, damaged during a move. Steve Strosnider, the restorer and proprietor, was recommended to me by an antique shop in Georgetown.
A number of problems:
a) Most important, when we finally got the dresser back, we noticed some places where the finish was not fully adhering to the wood below. We mentioned this to him, and when he returned to deliver a drawer that he had damaged during the restoration, he supposedly "fixed it." Now, with some sunlight streaming in, we noticed that he didn't "fix it" (we thought it was odd that he would be able to without taking it back). All he did was use a "touch up pen" to mask it. But now, in the daylight, we can see clearly that he did not fix it.
b) As mentioned, he damaged our drawer during the restoration. From beginning to end--repairing the dresser, repairing the drawer, and getting all of it back to us--it took 7 MONTHS. Because of (c)...
c) He is irresponsible. Multiple emails. Multiple calls. And he only finally answered our call when my husband called from his out of town office with a different area code.
The cost of restoring the dresser (top only) was approximately $400. At this point, given how long it took us to get the dresser back, our frustration with dealing with him, and our lack of confidence in his abilities, we do not feel it is worth it to insist on his repairing it further.
Terrible terrible.
